It is easy to put together once you get the hang of it. Instead of nails or screws, each piece is trimmed in "sticky" strips that adhere to each other. It assembles with pre-stuck 3M tape which has non-recyclable plastic strips so not so eco-friendly. The backing looks tacky, just heavy cardboard. Would have liked to leave it off but directions say it must go on for stablity. Also some of the edges were slightly damaged in spite of some heavy duty cardboard packaging. It consists of particle board held together with glue. There are no screws or nails. I assembled the shelves and allowed it to set for 24 hours. When I went to lift it to put it in place, the whole thing collapsed. I also ordered two three shelf bookcases which I will refuse delivery on. I am extremely angry. <br /> <br />The returns options do not have any options about refusing delivery. It is extremely frustrating not to be able to contact anybody at Amazon about this. We use a lot of binders for our reports and reports often run 5-7 books at a time. It is very cumbersome to have to carry them about.
